This will be the first time that a British monarch has celebrated seventy years on the throne. In February 2022, Her Majesty the Queen will mark her Platinum Jubilee. One of only 100 issued, this gold proof annual set celebrates Her Majesty the Queen's Platinum Jubilee. This set is offered in its original packaging from The Royal Mint with a numbered certificate of authenticity. Individually presented Platinum Jubilee 50ps and £5 Crowns show an alternate reverse so this set is the only way to own these pieces in gold proof with the current official coinage portrait. For all the coins in this set the obverse shows Jody Clark’s portrait of Her Majesty the Queen, in use since 2015. This means that this set is both VAT and Capital Gains Tax (CGT) exempt. This five coin set features the 2022 Platinum Jubilee £5, the 2022 Vera Lynn Memorial £2, the 2022 Alexander Graham Bell Telephone £2, the 2022 Platinum Jubilee 50p and the 2022 Birmingham Commonwealth Games 50p, all struck in 22 carat gold. Seventy years on, a range of public events are planned to mark this remarkable royal anniversary for Britain’s longest-reigning monarch, but The Royal Mint is ahead of the curve, releasing new 2022 coinage, including two pieces inspired by the jubilee. Elizabeth II came to the throne on 6 February 1952 and was crowned later that year on 2 June. Five-coin gold proof 2022 annual set from a limited mintage of just 100, struck to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
